Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is run by students for students. In 2012, RUSU was voted one of the top 20 student unions in the UK (National Student Survey 2012), and it is renowned for pushing key projects that benefit Reading students.
RUSU is home to over a 100 sports clubs and societies, all offering different experiences. Each sport group and society are run by elected student committees who volunteer their time to organise training sessions, competitions and social events for their fellow students.
There are societies based on interests and hobbies, which present you with the chance to do the things you love or try something new, as well as forums where you can meet like minded students.
On Wednesday 19th March, many students enjoyed a break from studying to take part in the annual Holi celebration, the spring festival of colour. The event “Rang De” was organised by the award winning society of the year, the Hindu Society at the University of Reading. The event took place on Whiteknights campus on a lovely sunny afternoon. ICMA Centre students took part in the celebrations including student ambassador, Jasmine Metha.
Rikhil Morjaria, President of the Hindu Society at Reading University and organiser of the event, stated” We were overwhelmed by the interest in Holi this year. This was the first time we celebrated this auspicious occasion on campus and certainly was enjoyed by all irrespective of religion”
