At this time of the year job hunters often tell me that there is no point trying to find work as everyone’s on holiday until September. I disagree: people without school aged children avoid holidaying in late July and August due to the inflated costs, and even those with children only get 5 weeks holiday to spend through the year so they will tend to use no more than 2 or 3 weeks in the summer.
Business as a whole can tend to slow – but that’s a benefit to the job hunter. When there are less customers about managers can start to think beyond the now, and consider the medium and long term, and recruitment is a big part of that. Also, when things are less hectic, people tend to find networking easier as their targets are more likely to engage.
So don’t rest on your laurels.
